You have the right to refuse medication
While I was in the hospital recovery from a colon resection surgery, one of my nurses tried to kill me. OK, I am exaggerating but at the time, it felt that way. I was getting potassium through my IV, which can be extremely painful. The previous nurses all diluted the drip by combining it with other medications to reduce the pain. This devil nurse insisted that the potassium had to be given straight for the next 8 hours. On a pain scale, that’s a 9, bordering 11.
I screamed and yelled and threatened to call my doctor and have her removed. Someone finally came and diluted the drip. It’s now in my hospital record that I threatened a nurse. Oh well.
