The Emotions of Cancer Loneliness
The loneliest part of cancer isn’t that you feel like you are fighting this by yourself. The loneliest part of cancer is being alone in your head. This invisible part is so hard for me.
It is lying awake at 3AM thinking about everything that you don’t know how to explain, that you’re too scared to say out loud. It is the deep secrets you keep from others. It’s trying to be strong for your family so that they don’t feel your pain while you are quietly falling apart inside.
It’s feeling like your life is paused while everyone else is moving on. It’s the fear of isolation because you are no longer actively involved. It’s saying that you’re fine when you are definitely not fine.
It’s the realization that you speak two languages: the one that protects your loved ones, and the terrifying truth you keep to yourself.
If you’ve been hit by cancer, what are some of the deep secrets that you keep to yourself?
