The darkness doesn’t go away overnight.
The world is not always kind to people who have lived through trauma. It doesn’t always give you the time and space to heal. That is why you have to give yourself grace. Be kind to yourself. Remind yourself that there is no timeline, finish line or deadline for healing. Healing is not about becoming the person you were before. It is about becoming the person you are meant to be now. Whoever that is, do not be afraid. You are a person who has walked through the darkness and refused to let it win. Your scars are proof of what you survived.
The darkness doesn’t go away overnight. There will be times when it still feels overwhelming but that does not mean you are failing. It does not mean that you are broken, you are NOT BROKEN. You are a person learning to live again, even when it feels impossible. That is strength, resilience, power. This is where you begin again.
